Mauled bad enough they thought he was a pew pew victim. What a horrific way to leave the earth

27 year old Alabama man mauled to death outside a home, 10 dogs were taken into custody and euthanized as a result.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. Dale County Deputies responded to a call at the 5500 block of County Road 33 in Skipperville, Alabama. When they arrived they found 27 year old Demarcus McKenzie laying on the ground. Demarcus was in such bad condition they initially thought they were looking at a shooting victim. They began the case as a homicide Investigation thinking that it had to be a gunshot wound to his head.

However once they started interviewing witnesses a new and sadly disturbing scenario came to light. McKenzie was mauled to death by 6 to 10 dogs. Surveillance video obtained with a search warrant shows the event in horrific detail.

In the video McKenzie can be seen leaving the dog owners home. As he was walking down the driveway one dog began being aggressive. Officials say McKenzie attempted to run away at this point, but as he began to run, more dogs joined the pursuit.

Eventually, with 5 to 6 dogs chasing him, McKenzie seemed to trip and fall. That is when the dogs who were already in an excited state attacked as a group.

The Sheriff said at one point McKenzie is trying to stand up as 6 dogs were going after him. They quickly pulled him back down and he eventually quit struggling.

On Monday morning the Sheriff's office euthanized 10 dogs who took part in the killing in some capacity.

Rhonda Whigam, McKenzie's mother, thinks it's too early to count out homicide. She believes the dogs were commanded to attack. She points out Demarcus visited the house in the first place with no problems from the dogs. "Why all the sudden the dog's attack him," she asks.

She does however trust the Sheriff's office to do a good job and uncover the truth if this was in fact a planned attack.

According to reports, the sheriff's office received a call about a possible homicide. When they arrived at the scene, they found the body of the 27-year-old man, Demarcus McKenzie, who had been mauled by a group of dogs.

As the sheriff's office conducted their investigation, they obtained surveillance footage that showed the dogs pursuing McKenzie and eventually attacking him.

Based on the evidence, the sheriff's office euthanized 10 dogs that were believed to have been involved in the attack.

The mother of the victim, Rhonda Whigham, is skeptical of the sheriff's office's findings and believes that more investigation is needed to determine whether the attack was intentional or whether it was a random act of aggression.

She questions why the dogs would have suddenly turned on her son, who she says had been friendly with them in the past. She is relying on the sheriff's office to get to the bottom of this case and determine what happened.

This story raises many questions about the safety of pets and the legal liability of pet owners. It also raises the question of whether more should be done to regulate the breeding and ownership of aggressive dogs.
